I liked the fact that even though this is the second book in a trilogy I can read the book as a stand alone I now find myself wanting to read the first and excited for the 3rd book.This is a powerful story I love this authors writing style. This book has strong women overcoming odds and helping each other It would be interesting to compare and contrast this book with The Same Sky by Amanda Eyre Ward.
